Blog Assignment #2

With which one of the network laws do you most agree? Why?
I law I most agree with is the Reed's Law. Indeed, a member is linked to to a network as whole. But also to many significant subsets. These subsets add value to the individual and to the network itself. Including subsets in the calculation of the value of the network, the value increases more rapidly than if we were only considering the nodes.
This law is particularly efficient to networks where individuals, communities and groups are considered. It permits us to realize how the Web 2.0 has a social dynamic. For example, Facebook can be considered part of the Reed's Law.

How you think people might get their information five years from now?
I think that 5 years from now, the way we get information will have totally changed.  When I take a look at the history of technology and see the way it changes our access to information in such a short amount of time, it makes me believe that it will keep changing more and more quickly. As an example, 5 years ago, my access to information was way different. In order to get informed, I used to watch the news on TV and sometimes read some newspapers about a specific topic. My phone's (yes, at that time I did not have a smartphone) utility was only to call, text, sometimes play games when I was bored. But at that time I never used the internet with my phone to get informed, first because it was too expensive and second because it was not easy to access information website with these kind of phone. Today, I follow the news exclusively with my phone (internet, twitter, Facebook,..) and the internet. I do not watch TV anymore except for some sport events. In 5 years, we will have new devices that will be way more quicker and efficient compared to the ones with have now. The time between us and info will be even shorter than today.

Nowadays, there are an infinite number of blogs on every single topics with every different opinion and it is great. People can freely express themselves and it is one of the best aspects of blogs.

Another advantage of blogs is that it is easy for users to access knowledge and information. For example. when you want to buy a specific items, you can refer to some people's blogs who do reviews of the product you trying to buy. It is a very efficient and practical way to know which brand to buy over another one. Most of internet users rely and trust people's personal opinion in their online blog review. They trust them more than commercials.

In the article, the part about Don's wife really touched me. Indeed, I have a friend who have to go through a serious illness few years ago. At that time, he had a blog where he wrote many articles about his sickness and how he was feeling about it. For having discussed the subject with him, he told me that it was, for him, a great way to escape from his everyday life at the hospital with all its disadvantages like medicines, operations, ...
